Dave is a 2018 model, fancy, fancy hard working, TRUE Red Roan gelding with a thick silver mane and tail. He stands 14.3 and is a heavier made horse. Take a look at this pedigree and build! Dave has all the makings to be an elite gelding. Being a grandson of both the great Metallic Cat and Smart Lil Scoot right along with Bob Acre Doc and Dual Rey he possesses the cow sense and athletic ability to do any job asked of him. Dave was raised by my neighbor and he has been with me since he was a yearling. Absolutely, has not been traded around at all.
He Spent his first 60 days in cutting/cowhorse training with Jason Long when he was at the Knoles Performance Horses in North Platte, NE then he was turned out to grow for a while. He has spent his time since being used extensively on a 40,000 acre, 2,000 head mother cow, cow/calf operation. Dave knows what long days and many miles entail. He has drug hundreds of calves to the branding fire, sorted (see video), cutting flag (see video) roped, doctored, trailed cows, paired out pairs, and pushed cattle down alley. There is not much to be done on the ranch that Dave isn't proficient in.
Dave has a fancy handle, true one hand neck rein, soft touch and feel, nice turnaround, fast feet, and smooth at all gaits. He has plenty of speed to run down whatever you need and is strong enough to handle it. Also, he started team roping out of the box on the roping sled (see video). He will walk through water and over obstacles with no problem. Dave has no buck but he has a big motor and likes to work. He is all business and not in your pocket type. He knows his job and likes to do it. UTD on teeth, wormer, vacs, and farrier. He is barefoot now but has had shoes on previously.
