Bubba is an 11-year-old Paint gelding and has truly been a joy to have around. Whatever we can think of to do with him, he is willing to give it a try. He has a wonderful attitude, loves having a job, and is just as happy heading down the trail as he is working cattle, going to town, or trying something completely new.
One of Bubba’s greatest qualities is just how safe and level-headed he is. He does not look for things to spook at and takes new situations in stride. We hauled him to town when he had never been to town before, and he handled everything like he had done it his entire life. The traffic, activity, commotion, and new surroundings didn’t bother him. What you see in his video is truly what this horse is.
Bubba is easy to have around from the moment you walk into the pasture. He is easy to catch and will actually come to you to be caught. He is easy to saddle and bridle, loads and unloads easily, and is uncomplicated to handle.
Under saddle, Bubba is comfortable and enjoyable to ride. He has a great trot and a smooth, comfortable lope, a nice little stop, and will even turn around and spin a little. He is good around cattle and is happy to help with ranch work. Put a rope on something and he will drag just about anything you ask him to.
He also absolutely loves the trails. He is the kind you can point down the trail and enjoy your ride without worrying about him looking for something to react to.
We even decided to introduce Bubba to jumping, and he had an absolute blast! He approached it with the same willing attitude he brings to everything else. With some additional time and experience, we think he could develop into a really fun little jumper.
Bubba would make an exceptional 4-H horse for a youth rider looking for one horse they can learn on, grow with, and take in several different directions. His safe, forgiving nature and willingness to try anything make him the kind of horse that can help build a young rider’s confidence instead of taking it away.
