Otis is a pretty chestnut gelding who stands 14 hands tall. Otis has been a great step up gelding for our kids to learn on. He has a nice soft lope, light neck rein, good stop and minds the bit. Otis is super friendly and loves attention. Our oldest loves to ride him everywhere. Whether that’s in the area messing around, out helping with the cows, or on the trail. Otis has roped slow steers, the dummy, will go through our obstacle course which consists of logs, pool noodles, tarps, teeter todder bridge and more. he rides good outside and away from the other horses. Otis crosses water, knows where to put his feet when going over rock piles and logs. He has a nice handle and is responsive to his neck rein making him easy for kids and adults to navigate and ride him. He does well with time off whether it’s days weeks or months. Like any seasoned horse, Otis has a quirk. He will occasionally pull back when tied solid to a hitching rail, though it isn’t consistent and has been easy for us to manage. For us, it’s a small trade-off for a gelding that has safely carried our boys, built their confidence, and become a horse we trust to put just about anyone on at our ranch. And the similes he’s put on our kids faces have been worth it. He does take good care of them and has boosted their confidence so much! He takes care of anyone who has rode him and they have all loved him. He is good to bathe and haul. Otis is ready to go on to help another kid or adult gain confidence and enjoy riding him.
