Rocky rides English, Western, bareback, and has even been started in harness. He’s comfortable, dependable, and safe both in and out of the arena.
In the ring, Rocky has an incredibly smooth walk, trot, and canter, picks up both leads with ease, and carries himself in a beautiful natural frame. He’s happily packed around beginner kids, nervous adults, and everyone in between. He’s the kind of horse who’ll cruise along on a loose rein at about the speed of continental drift unless you ask him otherwise. If you’re working on using more leg, congratulations—Rocky is already your coach! Once you get him moving, though, his trot is lovely and his canter feels like you’re floating. He’ll stop off a simple “whoa” or your seat, neck reins or direct reins, and even has a sliding stop. And if bareback rides are your thing, Rocky may just be the most comfortable seat in the barn.🙌🏼
On the trail, Rocky is just as steady as he is in the arena. He’ll lead or happily bring up the rear with his signature “no need to rush” attitude. He’s confident around traffic, hikers, bikers, dogs, flags, tarps, equipment, smoke…he’s even walked through fire! He enjoys swimming in the river, crosses creeks without hesitation, tackles bridges and hills like they’re no big deal, and stays cool, calm, and collected wherever you point him. He’s the ultimate guest horse and would make an incredible husband horse. No drama, no nonsense—just a trustworthy partner who’s happy to mosey down the trail. And if you ask him nicely, he might even hop over a log or two.🤩
Around the barn, Rocky is impossible not to love. He’s always happy to see you, especially if dinner happens to be involved, and he’ll greet you with a cheerful nicker that says, “I was wondering when you’d get here.” He trailers quietly, has traveled off property often, stands politely for the farrier, vet, and dentist, and has excellent ground manners. He’s patient enough for kids to groom, tack up, and lead, making him a true gentle giant in every sense of the word.🥰
