Big, stout, and drop-dead-gorgeous are all words I’d use to describe this gentle giant we call…ELLIE. This beautiful red roan is athletic, and extremely kind. Ellie is a 2021 model registered Brabant mare, standing a strong 16.2hh. No matter where you take her, Ellie will always be the one noticed everywhere she goes with her silvery roan coat, long forelock, and thick mane and tail. Ellie has a kind eye and a very willing personality. She rides very collected, picks up her leads correctly, moves nicely off your leg, will side pass both directions, and over to you for easy mounting. Though she has mainly been ridden western, she has been ridden English on occasion. Ellie has been ridden through all sorts of country and takes everything in stride with confidence and ease. From narrowing wooded trails and wide open fields to crossing deep water, making her way up steep inclines, traffic, traps, large balls, and snorty cattle..I’d say Ellie has definitely had the exposure for what it takes to make a confident minded horse. She has also been worked under harness a handful of times pulling a sleigh. Ellie has spent many of miles on trails, checking cows and riding fence lines, and is happy to do so ridden out completely alone or she’ll ride out with a group too. She most definitely has the size and stride to cover any country with ease, she has good solid feet and is surefooted.
On the ground she has the type of manners of a smaller type horse and will literally steal your heart away with her sweet personality. She stands quietly for the farrier, saddling, grooming, bathing, and is overall very respectful to handle. Out in the pasture Ellie is easy to catch, she loves people and has a tendency to be nosy about what you’re doing from time to time, so she’ll likely follow. She does well turned out alone or with other horses, and tends to settle in new surroundings with ease.
